Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion formed the band in 1997. Their debut album, ”Parachutes”, came in 2000 and was the beginning of a long lasting success. Coldplay have been one of the most commercially successful acts of the new millennium, selling over 30 million albums. The band is also known for their hit singles, such as "Yellow", "Speed of Sound" and the Grammy Award-winning "Clocks".

The first single, “Purple Hill”, was launched online as a free download to fans all over the world April 29^th 2008. In only two weeks the song was downloaded over 2 million times. Here in Norway “Purple Hill” made it’s way into the VG hitlist’s spot 5 in only one week.
