History:
Back in 1969 Per
Asplin composed the story of Putti Plutti Pott and Father Christmas's beard. The
story started as a novel, and from there Per and his 4 children produced a
long-playing record version, and cassette. The following year, based on the
long-playing version, a TV programme was adapted from the story, using Per, his
children, Kari Diesen as Mother Christmas, and Harald Heide Steen jr, and Jon
Skolmen as Kalle and Palle - two of the comical Father Christmas characters
in
After much popular request, Per Asplin produced
a full evening version of this musical drama Putti Plutti Pott. Included were
many cheery songs and dance numbers, that extended this tale with even further
added excitement. The stage version had its debut in the Oslo Concert House back
in 1987, and since then, has become a Christmas classic.
Before his death, in 1996, Per Asplin chose as
his successor, Knut Morten Damm, as the singing, dancing uncle Per. There have
been many that have given life to the cheery Mother Christmas, including Per
Asplin's daughter Caroline, Nora Brockstedt, Siw Anita Andersen, Veslemøy
Solberg, Elisabeth Lindland and Heidi Halvorsen. Glupe Gløgg (Mr Clever), one of
Christmas land's secret police service - agent nr. 00Nix, which was originally
written for Leif Juster, was played by Carsten Byhring, Arve Opsahl and Sverre
Holm, (the whole Olsen
gang).
Even Dag Vågsås as Karl Sundby and Kasper
Asplin have made the Christmas character Jokkum Jokkumsen Jokkum, who could
not stop eating Christmas porridge,
